Yes, they tell the story of slavery, using plenty of visual aids, but what I love about this museum is that they also acknowledge and tell the story before slavery. There’s a timeline of accomplishments that African Americans made to history before they were deemed Americans.
Tickets are $6 at the most, not including student or senior citizen discounts. It may be difficult to spot from the street if you aren’t looking for the sign, so be sure to look for it. They also have a unique collection in the bookstore that highlights Black authors. It is a small museum and can be covered very quickly but, it tells a story that no one else is telling quite the same way. A story that is worth spreading. Our history began before slavery.
